September 14, 2017--The Polination Life of Birds--Dan Scheiman, Ph.D.,

Bird Conservation Director, Audubon Arkansas--

Decline of bees and Monarchs grabs national attention because they are such important pollinators. Some birds also play that role and Dr. Scheiman will talk about the tight relationship between nectarivorous birds and their plants.

October 12, 2017--"What Bird Am I"--A Trivia Game to Test Our Birding Skills


Shelley Todd, Natural Resource Program Manager at Hot Springs National Park, will also meet with us to discuss plans for the upcoming Christmas Bird Count.

November 9, 2017--Birding in Belize--Cindy Franklin


Cindy will tell of a birding trip that she and Bill took to Belize. Located on the east coast of Central America, Belize is a year-round birder's paradise. Seven of the world's best birding sites are found in this small Central American country.


Cindy Franklin has had a lifelong interest in gardening and bird watching that began when she was growing up on a dairy farm in Pennsylvania.  She and her husband, Bill, are members of the Audubon Society of Central Arkansas and the Arkansas Audubon Society. Cindy maintains a pollinator garden in her yard as well as a seasonal hummingbird feeding station for the Ruby-throated Hummingbirds.
